The Saltaire Citizens' Advisory Association was formed in 1968. Membership in the S.C.A.A. is open to all residents of Saltaire, year-round and seasonal, owners and renters.
-
Under its by-laws, the S.C.A.A. is governed by a Board of Directors whose members serve overlapping three year terms. Four new directors and all the officers are elected at the S.C.A.A. Annual Meeting.
-
The S.C.A.A. publishes the Saltaire Directory which is distributed to S.C.A.A. members
- The S.C.A.A. takes an active role in civic affairs. Our annual meeting is a forum for citizens to make suggestions and air complaints about the state of the village.
- We seek to encourage participation in Saltaire Village government. We provide the candidates for Village office with an opportuntiy to post their candidate statements online and also host a Candidate Forum at which the public can hear and question the candidates.
-
The S.C.A.A. makes contributions to organizations such as the Fire Department, the Fire Island Association and S.O.S. We fund various worthy projects such as the dock flag pole and the electric golf cart for people needing help getting to and from the ferry. We also sponsor the annual Labor Day Slide Show and exhibitions and publications by the Village Historian.
-
Perhaps most importantly, the S.C.A.A. acts as an intermediary between the village government and its residents. We seek your suggestions as to how we can serve you and Saltaire better. Please send us your ideas or comments.
- Finally, a page of links to useful Saltaire and Fire Island web resources including the Village of Saltaire, ferry, train and taxi schedules, tide tables and much more.
